#SoundBites / #TheFoodCops – 25 August 2013: Good health matters to the SounBites team as much as enjoying good food and a busy social life. Presenters Edward-Chamberlain-Bell, @thewordofed, Laura McDermid & Barbara Gillman discuss their personal choices

Sound Bites with Edward Chamberlain-Bell is an exciting new lifestyle & destination show that focuses on what to eat, where to go and who to know in Johannesburg and South Africa. The show is brought to you by The Food Cops and Radio Today Johannesburg. The original show was conceptualised by The Food Cops as a social foodies guide to sharing good and bad dining experiences. It soon became evident that dining experiences are no longer limited to restaurants and “destination” eating was becoming equally popular with listeners who were interested in food markets, pop-up restaurants and other events where food was available.

As the show grew, listeners indicated they enjoyed Edward’s ideas on holistic lifestyle, cultural trends and social responsibility. It didn’t hurt that Edward was equally critical of good and bad experiences, including himself, nor that he could segue effortlessly from sharing fine dining experiences to his standby ‘butter-bean dip’ from a can. Quick-witted when caught off-guard, he isn’t afraid to admit that even when he doesn’t know what he was talking about, he will find someone who does. Like celebrated foodies Hilary Biller, Jenni Morris, Justine Drake and Reza Mohammad.

A detox cleans the body and mind. Our bodies, mind and spirit are continually subjected to stimulus, pollutants and stress. Detoxing is a necessary part of self-maintenance, cleaning and rebuilding all three of these constituents. Following a detox diet plan can help rid your body of toxins that have built up in your colon, liver and bloodstream. A safe and healthy detox will create space in both body and mind. It can help us shift more easily into eating for a new season, strengthen lymphatic, metabolic and digestive systems, and/or discern a culprit for any chronic digestive issues, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic gas, indigestion and constipation. Only Laura McDermid can make it as effortless and effective as possible.

The Fairlawns is a very unique, exclusive and up-market sanctuary for today’s traveler, be that business or leisure. This well-kept secret is the perfect balance between tranquility and proximity to the thriving business centers of Sandton. Elegant enough to host European royalty, relaxed enough for one visitor to comment “a home away from home, only better”, this establishment is truly a world-class venue. http://fairlawns-hotel.co.za/
Originally owned by the Openheimer family, the property was purchased in 1986 and remained the private residence of the current owners, John and Anna Thacker, until the establishment of Fairlawns as a Boutique Hotel in 1998. A forerunner in creating spacious bathrooms, individually themed suites and even the name Boutique, which at the time was not the popular nomenclature it is today, Fairlawns has been at the forefront of a different offering in hospitality.

Justin Vicars and Lucille Divine from SEO Tips Spot (www.seotipsspot.com) talk about social media and marketing. Justin Vicars' vast business and entrepreneurial knowledge of how to open and grow businesses has won him great accolades and success.
A strong ability to see the bigger picture as a visionary and help develop and create a road-map towards the end goal testifies to this success. Lucille Divine is a South African business woman who co-founded SEO Tips Spot over five years ago, after experiencing a major life changing event that helped her to make a decision to work smarter. Lucille turned her attention to learning online tactics to position her business. She believes that harnessing the internet for business is the fundamental key to online success and she shares her knowledge helping others to understand how to use the internet and in particular social media marketing tactics combined with search engine optimisation tactics.

Wedgewood Nougat has become Edward Chamberlain-Bell's latest addiction. Unlike some commercial nougats which are excessively sweet- their nougat has a neutral sweetness so you can really taste the honey, nuts and cranberries. We can't even tell you how wickedly decadent their Belgian chocolate nougat is- just that it is wickedly decadent! Edward Chamberlain-Bell created a pavlova with a chewy nougat twist by filling a meringue nest with nougat chunks, nuts, berries and lashings of cream- a crispy, chewy, nutty surprise! www.wedgewoodnougat.co.za
